The Story of Creation（上帝造物的故事）

God created the mule and told him, "You will be Mule, workingconstantly from dusk to dawn, carrying heavy loads on your back. Youwill eat grass, and you lack intelligence. You will live for 40 years."The mule answered, “To live like this for 40 year is too much .Pleasegive me no more than 20." And it was so.
　　
　　上帝創造出騾子並告訴它: "騾子啊騾子,你將會從早到晚身負重擔不停地工作. 你只能吃草, 你會很笨, 你將會活40年." 騾子回答說:" 40年這樣的生活對我來說太悲慘, 請給我不超過20年的壽命吧." 上帝同意了.
　　
　　　　Then God created the dog and told him, "You will hold vigilance overthe dwelling of Man. To him you will be his greatest companion. Youwill eat his table scrapes and live for 25 years. "The dog responded,"Lord, to live 25 years as a dog is too much. Please no more than 10years. "And it was so.
　　
　　上帝又創造出狗然後告訴它:"你將在人類的居所周圍時刻保持警惕, 你是人類最親密的夥伴. 你只能吃人類的残羹冷炙, 你的壽命是25年." 狗也有異議:" 要我這樣生活25年那真是太悲慘, 我只活10年就夠了." 上帝也同意了.
　　　　
　　God then created the monkey and told him, "You are Monkey. You shallswing from tree to tree, acting like an idiot. You will be funny, andyou shall live for 20 years." The monkey responded,"Lord, to live 20years as the clown of the world is too much .Please, Lord, give me nomore than 10 years." And it was so.
　　
　　上帝再造出猴子並對它說: "猴子啊猴子, 你會像傻瓜一樣在樹上跳來跳去, 你會很滑稽地活20年." 猴子也不開心:"你要我在這個世界上當20年的小丑真是太不人道, 我只活10年就夠了."上帝還是同意了.
　　　　　　
　　Finally, God created Man and told him," You are Man, the only rationalbeing that walks the earth. You will use your intelligence to havemastery over the creatures of the world. You will dominate the earthand live for 20 years." The man responded, "Lord, to be Man for only 20years is too little .Please ,Lord ,give me the 20 years the mulerefused, the 15 years the dog refused, and ten years the monkeyrejected ." And it was so .So God made Man to live 20 years as a man,then marry and live 20 years like a mule, working and carrying heavyloads on his back .Then, Man is to have children and live 15 years as adog, guarding his house and eating the leftovers after they empty thepantry. Then, in his old age, to live 10 years as a monkey, acting likea clown to amuse his grandchildren.
　　
　　上帝最後創造出人類並且告訴他:"你是人,這個地球上惟一有理性的生物.你將會用智慧來支配世界上其他的生物, 你可以在活著的20年裡主宰這個世界." 人類很高興,又有些不滿足:"這麼好的生活我只活20年太可惜, 請你把騾子不要的那20年, 狗不要的那15年和猴子不要的10年通通都給我吧."上帝就同意了.後來, 人類的生活就成了這樣: 最開始的20年他真正像人一樣去生活, 然後接下來的20年裡他成家了, 像一個騾子一樣身負重擔, 整日勞作,再然後的15年裡, 人類的孩子長大了, 人開始過著狗一樣的生活, 每天守在房子裡吃著孩子們剩下的残羹冷炙. 最後的10年到了,人類也終於老了, 從此只能像猴子一樣耍寶來取悅他的孫子們.
