You will find that posting a job ad in a major market might cost a few bucks, but I assure it would be money well spent. Considering Craigslist gets over 10 billion page views a month. Yes. 10 million. They rank #8 worldwide in English language page views. That speaks volumes for itself.
So posting is free, the target audience is so large it boggles the mind, why not just post thousands of ads a day every day forever and ever? Well, it's been done. And Craigslist stepped right in and developed a system of SPAM filters that prevent just that very thing from happening. The problem is, it sometimes gets in the way of the average Joe being able to publish a few classified ads for his small business. If you enter the wrong content, post to often or to frequently, ad direct links to your website, or advertise a product using a bunch of SPAM related keywords you will find your ad will never make it onto Craigslist. It will appear to you to have been published. You will even get a confirmation link in your email and it will go right to your ad. But, go to that category in that city you posted and search for it. It never makes it up due to the SPAM filter.

So here are 5 rules of thumb for posting on Craigslist. Follow these, and with a little tweaking on your end you should see your Craigslist posting woes disappear.
1. Unique titles - Don't use the same title over and over again. Changing up a simple word or two can make a huge difference. If you can write completely unique titles that would be best. Make sure to keep your keywords in them though, that's what people are searching for.
2. Unique ad content - This is the most important step. If you just copy and paste your whole ad, it will never make it up. You must use completely unique ad copy if you want to be successful at getting your ads up. You can give the same message, just make sure to present it in a unique format for each ad you post.
3. Avoid SPAMMy keywords - Stay away from certain phrases or keywords that you see in ALL of your SPAM emails. Phrases like "FREE INFORMATION" or "GET RICH QUICK" or even "MAKE TONS OF CASH TODAY" will ensure your ad never sees daylight. Try to keep it classy.
4. Space your posts apart - Don't post 5 ads in a row. Instead, post an ad every hour all day. When you submit a lot of content rapidly, Craigslist will see it as SPAM and pull the posts. Ideally you should only post once a day per city per catagory.
5. Don't use direct links - The use of a direct link to your website will also flag the Craigslist SPAM filters. Avoid these whenever possible. If you do use them, it may even result in your domain name being flagged by Craigslist and all posts that relate to that domain will not be posted.
So, it may seem a bit tricky, but once you get into it you will find that it is actually really easy.
